Take It from Me

Hey, there, look in her eyes;
Deeper than deep, her world on the rise.
Smile and a laugh, a voice and a tune,
And I'm off like a shot, no I'm not immune.
'Cause she does what she please and take it from me;
there's no turning back, her course set, on track.
In the palm of her hand, all she commands.
Her will is her force, she'll never quit;
And I'm working so hard to keep up with her.
Take it from me, she'll be what she'll be.
A fire from a spark to light up the dark.
She's who they'll want, you can take that from me.
Hey, there, it's the touch of her hand,
A kiss on the cheek that makes me grow weak.
When she's open with me, those stories she'll tell.
Take it from me, I've known her quite well.
And when sleep finally comes late in the night
I'll hold her real close and everything's right.
And I'll treasure this for all that I can.
'Cause take it from me, it's just not to be.
For it's "So long, there's places to be."
She'll never stop, you can take that from me.
Her battles she fought and treasures she's sought
Someone else gets to see, they're not for me.
All that I give, and all that I've got;
Just not enough, there's more that she wants.
My fire from her spark, how she lit up my dark.
But will she ever know, when I had to let her go,
That in the palm of her hand my heart she'd command?
It's where I wanted to be, you can take that from me.
Hey, there, when you look in her eyes,
See what I see? Her world on the rise.
Hey, there, well I want you to know
She's so special, you see.
And you can't take that from me...

Love, loss, and what inspirations remain in the heart of the left behind. While this isn't exactly what I wanted to be for the first release of lyrics for National Railway Sound Project, it is, never the less, what got polished off, first. It's not a sad song, so much as a song of hopeful longing.

Maybe you know what it's talking about...?
